Each participant of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games was hit from organizers in hands a seed from the Brazilian tree and the container with the earth. Them inserted into the special mirror towers placed on a bowl of Maracanã stadium. At the end they formed seven Olympic rings. Further 11 thousand trees which will grow from saplings, form the Wood of Athletes which will be put to Rio de Janeiro.

In total the opening ceremony nearly 4 hours – from 2:00 and till 5:55.

the First competitions will take place p already today. At 15:30 Moscow time man's group cycle race starts. In total in the first day 12 sets of medals will be awarded.
