Came to the end the first stage of elections of the new UN Secretary-General — hearings with participation of candidates. All 11 applicants for this post expressed the opinion concerning the main problems facing the international community, at hearings in UN headquarters. The chairman of the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly Mogens Luekketoft reported about it.

Further the candidate of the UN Secretary General will be discussed by p in Security council. According to Lyukketoft, the strong secretary general, capable to carry out important functions is necessary to the UN.

the Post of the UN Secretary-General will be released by p on January 1, 2017. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Miroslav Laychak, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina Susana Malcorra, the ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Vuk Eremich, the administrator of the Program of development of the UN Helen Clark (New Zealand), the former head apply for this position the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Macedonia Srdjan Kerim, the Foreign Minister of Montenegro Igor Lukshich, the general director of UNESCO Irina Bokova, the former prime minister of Portugal Antoniu Guterrish, the ex-president of Slovenia Danilo Türk, and also former heads the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Natalya Hermann and Croatia Spring Pusich.
