On October 9 Day of mail is around the world celebrated. Date is devoted to the staff of the institutions which are engaged in movement of freights and correspondence. On October 9, 1874 in Swiss Bern representatives of 22 countries, including Russian Federation, signed the Bern contract, establishing the basis of the General postal union. In 1878 the union changed the name and began to be called as the World postal union. The World day of mail also is devoted to this event. Since October 9 the World week of the letter also starts.
