International day of chess

The international day of chess is celebrated on July 20 – in day of foundation in 1924 of World Chess Federation (Federation Internationale des Echecs, World Chess Federation, World Chess Federation). The holiday is celebrated at the initiative of Specialized establishment United Nations concerning education, sciences and cultures since 1966. On December 12, 2019 UNGA  also proclaimed on July 20 in the World afternoon of chess in commemoration of date of basis of World Chess Federation.
