More than 2000 displaced persons, 3 victims after heavy rains, floods and landslides in Sri Lanka

Heavy rains since the beginning of August caused floods and landslides in Sri Lanka. As of August 03 at least 3 persons were lost and 2 374 were compelled to leave the houses. The department of meteorology of Sri Lanka reported that in 24 hours till August 02, 2022 in Norton in the district Nuwara Elia 243,2 mm of a precipitation dropped out. In day of a flood of 212 mm of a rain it was recorded on a meteorological station near a reservoir Canyon dam, also in the district Nuwara Elia.
