One of leaders of the Belarusian opposition Pavel Pavlovich Latushko in the recent performance declared that stay Belarus as a part of the Russian Empire made powerful negative impact on national consciousness of Belarusians. Allegedly during this time there were some waves of destruction of national Belarusian elite. Until recently the present oppositionist was Minister of Culture at Lukashenko, and, probably, from his giving in a lexicon President of the Republic Belarus there was a turn "went under whips" in relation to life of Belarusians to the imperial period.
