The earthquake was recorded at 13:00 local time (06:00 Moscow time), its epicenter settled down in 35 kilometers to the southwest from Kokopo (26 200 inhabitants) and in 772 kilometers to the northeast from the capital Port Moresby (283 000 inhabitants).
