The Slovak mountain skier Petra Vlgova took gold in slalom at the Olympic Games in Beijing. On the sum of two attempts it showed result 1 minute 44,98 seconds. It is the first in the history of Slovakia the Olympic victory in mountain skiing. Silver the acting world champion from Austria Katarina Linsberger (1:45,06) won, bronze — the Swiss Vendi Kholdener (1:45,10). The Russian Tkachenko Catherina became the 31st (1:50,68), Gornostaeva Anastasiya — the 33rd (1:51,50), Melnikova Paulina — the 36th (1:52,74).
