Why Americans married the Chukchi women

At the end of XIX – at the beginning of the XX century the American businessmen, using remoteness of the Chukotski Peninsula from other Russian Federation, started getting actively on the peninsula, mastering it. They did business, bringing to Chukotka Autonomous District goods from the city of Nome (State of Alaska), conducted seasonal and often barbarous production of walruses, furs.
