"Southern Demo Day" — annual conference of startups and investors which carries out "the Southern IT park". This year it brought together about 300 participants among whom there were the startups presenting the projects; the business angels considering opportunity to invest means in these or those startup; representatives of banks, authorities and IT community.
— "The Southern Demo Day" — is Russian Federation a forum on venture financing — the chairman of committee Legislative assembly of Rostov region on local government Nechushkin Alexander declared. — The purpose of this action where business angels, experts in the sphere venture financings are invited, representatives of scientific community — to find opportunities for symbiosis which will allow us to make big breakthrough in construction of "clever" economy about which need the president spoke in the message and repeatedly was mentioned by the governor.
Mr. Nechushkin Alexander noted that now investors reluctantly go on risky investments. As for banks, they are concentrated on receiving profit, and their requirements to borrowers often exclude possibility of crediting of startups. At the same time at investors the understanding of that is the venture capital is already formed, and they are ready to market risks.
— All understand that, probably, 3 projects from 4, received investments, will fail — the representative of Legislative assembly of Rostov region explained. — But successful have every chance to find world success. All of us know, for example, Uber which now has global popularity that would be impossible without high-risky investments at its initial stages of developments. And I am sure that business angels who will find in itself desire and opportunity to support similar projects of the southern developers, will be the winner. Another thing is that risks arise also because of the actual lack of the legislative base regulating the venture market. Therefore during a forum we will collect proposals of experts concerning with what these laws have to be. With the bill developed on the basis of these offers we plan to come to federal level. The Don parliament is famous for that its projects are often approved by State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. Since the beginning of this year of such laws was already two.
the Deputy of Legislative Assembly Vitaly Mazhara added that promotion of the bill of venture financing will be helped by effective work of the deputy "triangle" connecting local meetings of deputies, ZSRO and representatives Rostov Region with federal parliament.
