the biggest in the world planetarium opened in Saint Petersburg, thanks to the dome with a diameter of 37 meters, the new planetarium overtook the American and Japanese competitors, the governor reported at planetarium opening Saint Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko.
"It not only a new platform where Petersburgers and city visitors can study the star sky receive necessary information, but also the largest in the world planetarium. In the Japanese Nagoya there is a planetarium with a dome in 35 meters, we have more", - told at Georgy Poltavchenko.
the New planetarium settles down in the former building of a gas-holder - one of constructions of a complex of the former gas plant of Society of capital lighting. The construction built in 1884, is object of a cultural heritage of federal and regional value, it is one of the largest gas-holders to Russian Federation. The territory of plant is on the Bypass channel, in so-called "a gray belt" city construction. Transformation of industrial constructions under the cultural and educational center began in 2015.
Near planetarium the aviamodel club, lecture audiences is planned to open showrooms, an observation deck, a workshop on Robotics.
the Investor suggested to use planetarium and the cultural center for city educational programs.
