Horrors of "Girl without dowry"
Directors Russky Nicholas and Goncharov Andrey ("Etude theater") decided on experiment: to put Ostrovsky's "Girl without dowry" in museum space - the historical building on Ostrovsky Square, and to show the love drama through a prism of the Parisian theater of horrors "Gran-Ginyol". The premiere will take place at a festival "All day — theater! ".
Goncharov Andrey , director: In a general sense, ginyol is the such performance which basis is the image of various crimes, villainies, beatings, tortures, etc. A certain option of the trite, simplified feast for eyes and ears — that makes the lion's share of information arriving to the modern viewer of the world of television programs, news lines, advertizing. The world alien to young Ogudalova, whose internal orphanhood is so great that the girl looks incompatible with this world which perceives it as a thing. Baring this orphanhood, founders of performance sought to represent "awful" in all its manifestations - social, moral, psychological, esthetic and hygienic. That is so that this aspiration became almost self-valuable trick, a theatrical attraction. It is rather interesting that ginyol as many theorists and practitioners of the Russian theater at the beginning of the 20th century tried to comprehend a phenomenon of mass culture.
