To electric cars, despite their almost total absence in the countries Commonwealth of Independent States, we already got used at least at the expense of constant news about such type of transport. Also various bicycles, mopeds and the motorcycles equipped with electric motors are not special surprising.

A here planes with electric motors at present practically are not present p. It is possible to remember, for example, Airbus E-Fan 2.0 which will put on the market next year. The similar project is available and at NASA — X-57 Maxwell . But in this case it is not known even when will construct at least a prototype.

Meanwhile, the agency reported about the next step in the direction of development of branch of electroplanes. The speech about that the research center Glenn Research Center will start dealing with issues of creation and testing of electric power supply systems which could be used in planes. The special equipment and stands under the general name NASA Electric Aircraft Testbed (NEAT) will be used for this purpose.

NASA wants to develop electric motors for aviavessels

Specialists of the center already tested the certain electric system working from voltage of 600 V which could lift the small plane calculated on one or two people in air. Engine capacity in this case did not call.

But the power necessary for the plane is known is larger. Main objective of researchers at present — creation of an electric power supply system with power more than 20 MWt which would suffice for the small passenger plane.

Certainly, development, production, testing and commercialization of similar technologies will take a lot of time. So you should not expect large serial planes with electric motors at least in the next years 10.
