Organizers of the female World Cup in chess of 2017 in Iran ordered to all participants to put on a hijab. A number of chess players stated a sharp protest against the rule, having emphasized that this requirement is discrimination on a religious sign.

In particular, the champion of United States of America Nazi Paikidze declared that is ready to boycott tournament if the venue is not changed.
