- Beresnev Leonid , you headed again the national team Latvia after a long break. What problems it was necessary to face by preparation for the World Cup?
- Problems absolutely same that were 20 years ago in Eindhoven (in 1996 the national team Latvia under the direction of Beresnev Leonid won the World Cup in group B in Netherlands and entered in top-16 world hockey). Year by year nuances change only, type who from players is injured or will not be able to arrive for other reasons. To Latvia of the national team think very much: fans and journalists want good results, and sometimes here directly immediately. Criticize for defeats, game in the majority, weak game in defense. It is necessary to deal somehow with all this (laughs). I too, looking at the national team from outside, could demand good result. But for the short term which is taken away on preparation for the championship, not always at once it is possible to put game, to achieve everything that it would be desirable. Certainly, we try, but not always it turns out.

- What problem will be solved by the national team Latvia in the World Cup to Russian Federation?
- Specially a task to us did not sound. At me as at the trainer, it is simple to win very big desire in each separate match, first of all. And then there will be also a result quite good.
- After last year the mood to Latvia now such what to remain in elite already will be absolutely quite good.
- Much to my regret such situation with performance of the national team developed for a long time. Here and the Latvian mass media laid to it a hand. That was a year ago (the national team Latvia from seven matches at the group stage ChM-2015 in the main time did not win any, but kept a place in elite group, having bypassed on additional indicators team Austria), it already history. We need to live in afternoon and to look forward forward. It is desirable – with optimism. Very much it would be desirable that from public and mass media there was more positive, after all on the championship all teams will arrive to win. And only tournament will give the answer to a question of result. But with a positive spirit and it is easier to play, it in many respects helps players. Therefore all thoughts about "if only to remain", it would be desirable to banish meanwhile far away.

- Not all players agreed to arrive to the national team Latvia, at everyone the reason. How to treat it?
- my position on this question very simple: I respect opinion of the player, it for me the law in any sort. If he declared that this its right will not participate in preparation for the championship. But honesty is necessary. While we are ashore, it is possible to agree about everything. And when we got into the boat, all of us need to row already, already will not jump off anywhere. There is no sense to look around and think:" And here if".
Me first of all the motivated players who let are a little conceding in skill to those who did not arrive to the national team are necessary to, but their motivation will be bigger advantage for all of us.
- As far as you are happy how there took place preparation for the World Cup?
- as a whole preparation took place rather successfully, without special roughnesses. Were small momentiki, but these problems are solved. The trainer's staff is happy with readiness of team. Thank God that in the course of preparation we managed to do without injuries, all on whom we count, are in a good shape. And it too one of positive factors. Mood in team positive, working, I would tell. Training process proceeds in the usual course.

- Results of the matches played within Evrochellendzha, satisfied?
- the Main objective there was to strum even not so much structure, how many to solve a problem of a choice of players. We did not set a task to gain there 100% of possible points, wanted to give the chance to some children to prove, and it, I consider, we managed. Result not the worst for our national team. That finished preparation by two defeats, as a whole is not so important: the team had a game, but, probably, somewhere slightly the luck did not suffice and defeats different happen. As a whole drawing of game left at me good impression.
- yours contract will work only until the end of the World Cup?
- In September in Riga there will pass the Olympic qualifying tournament (with participation of the national teams Latvia, Germany, Austria and Japan). I will prepare team for this tournament and if we manage to get on the Olympic Games-2018, mine contract automatically lasts for all this term.
- the World Cup will take place to Russian Federation, it is expected that the national team there will have Latvia

And since 1997, from the Finnish championship, here this flow of the audience became more increasing every year. For anybody not a secret that in Moscow has to be good support, and it is big plus for us. The people supported us and on friendly matches in Riga. I am convinced that game attracts people on tribunes, and support of fans adjusts players on a due harmony. Nobody will reproach team that it did not try in control matches. Yes, we lost, but it is hockey. Sometimes the rival is stronger, but children were honestly given to game, were very motivated and tried to win. To anybody there are no claims. - On the World Cup to Moscow there can arrive more fans, than collected friendly matches in Riga. It does not surprise you?
is it would be absolutely quite good! Perhaps, fans saved the resources to support the national team in Moscow? If it is so, I will be very glad to similar support.

- Who, in your opinion, will be the favourite of the forthcoming championship?
- this Question always very difficult. In several previous championships, for example, I supported the national team Sweden, and there was a full impression that they will be world champions. Their game to me was very nice, but all turned out absolutely on the contrary. Therefore forecasts - business very ungrateful, similar predictions very seldom come true. But potentially same teams look slightly better than others. And if the national team of Slovakia, for example, plays in the final, it will be very surprising. Yes, happens that some teams shoot if to remember the same Switzerland in the final, but then everything falls back into place. The main favourites – Russian Federation and Canada , in what structure they would not play. Can successfully play Czech Republic, United States of America, Swedes, Finns. And to guess the winner from this group very difficult. If we once again communicate on the same subject before the final when there will be only two teams, there chances to guess the winner will significantly increase.
