India in 2015 became the second country in the world after China with number of users of services of mobile communication over 1 billion people, the Minister of Communications and communications Ravi Shankar Prasad reported.

"India overcame a symbolical one-milliard boundary in October, and for the end of 2015 the number of users of services of mobile communication made about 1,1 billion", provides his words TASS .

"As a result the country came to the second position on this indicator after China (1,3 billion), continuing to increase promptly subscriber base that causes a pride for achievements of the domestic industry", - he added.

As the minister noted, powerful breakthrough forward the Indian market of a mobile telephony happened after 12 main operators started aggressive reduction of the expenses and reduction of prices of the services, today become one of the cheapest in the world.

According to the Ministry of Communications, the Indian market giving on the average a gain in 10-15 million users every quarter, only for October, 2015 brought at once 7 million new connections.

"In the last 15 years (from 2000 to 2015) the Indian market of a mobile telephony showed dizzy take-off, having increased from 2 million to over 1 billion subscribers, - the head of the mumbaysky consulting company Ipsos Vkhasker Kanagaradzhu told TASS.

According to him, it is the most fast-growing market in the world, overtaking on the rates even China.

The expert considers that the market of a mobile telephony in India will receive still bigger acceleration thanks to emergence of cheap smartphones worth 1 thousand. rupees (15 dollars), available even to lower-income strata.
