Team of the Swedish scientists from Umeo's University Umeå together with colleagues from Denmark and China created a production method organic semiconductors from birch leaves. Research is published in the scientific magazine Green Chemistry. Organic semiconductors usually make of petrochemical connections and rare metals, such as platinum and iridium. One of applications for them are served by the organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) used in ultrathin and bright screens of TVs and mobile phones.
