Carmina Burana (the full name — "Boyern's Songs: Wordly chants for execution by singers and choruses, together with tools and magic images") — the scenic cantata Orf Carl (1937) on own libretto based on medieval poems in Latin and sredneverkhnenemetsky languages. The poetic collection from about 250 poems was found in 1803 in a Benedictine monastery Boyern in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps. Orf Carl used 24 of them.
