Tola ran a distance in 2 hours 4 minutes 58 seconds, having become the first in the history of a marathon in New York who managed to run out from two hours five minutes. The second place was taken by Kenyan Albert Korir (2:06.57), and one more representative Ethiopia Shura Kitata (2:07.11) became the third.
