Exactly a year ago, on September 20, 2022, in RAN the management was replaced. The former president of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Mikhaylovich Sergeev, being considered as one of favourites, withdrew the candidacy from elections, having noted that they pass "in unprecedented conditions", and members of academy "are exposed psychological and even to external administrative pressure".
