Photon crystals grow on ancient Roman glasses

Scientists noticed that on ancient particles of glasses there are photon crystals. They were formed because of mixture of molecules of glasses and minerals under which it is buried. If researchers accelerated this process in laboratory, they could not make, and grow up optical materials.
