Unplanned increase of a key rate to 12% which Central bank Russian Federation (Bank Russia) declared in the middle of August, forced banks to increase rates on deposits. However profitability of deposits grew unevenly: short-term deposits "rose in price" at once for 2-3 pct, and long-term added less than 1 pct. In a situation of uncertainty investors do not decide to freeze money on the deposit for long term under lower interest. And banks are not ready to type the obligation for the raised rates waiting for correction of a key rate.
