In Bogoroditsk the Zhitenny monastery prayerfully honored an ancient Smolensk image of the Blessed Virgin

On August 10, 2023, in day of celebration of the Smolensk image of the Blessed Virgin, Bogoroditskoma Zhitennoma to a female monastery in Ostashkov 307 years from the date of the basis were executed. The Bogoroditsky monastery on the lake of Zhitnoye was founded in 1716. The ancient image of the Blessed Virgin "Odigitriya" dated by the XVI century (according to some data, the XVII century), is the main shrine of Ostashkov and the Bogoroditsky monastery. In honor of this icon Zhitennaya a monastery also was based. The Smolensky main chetyrekhprestolny Cathedral was under construction from 1737 to 1742.
