The water sanctuary is found in the ancient Thracian city of Perperikon

New researches opened a huge monumental water sanctuary Nimfeum — over a reservoir in Perperikon's southern part. Professor Nicholas Ivanovich Ovcharov, the head of excavation of an archaeological complex, reported that this construction belongs to 2-3 century of century Perperikon — the archaeological complex located at the height of 470 meters near the Bulgarian Kardzhali, in East Rhodope. The settlement is considered one of the most ancient megalytic monuments.
