Mass media: Italy demanded from Airbnb more than 500 million euros not paid taxes

Agency income of Republic of Italy accused the American Airbnb service of failure to pay taxes. The authorities demand from companies more than 500 million euros, the Il Sole 24 Ore reports. According to the law on short-term rent of 2017, citizens for whom delivery of housing is a main type of earnings, directly pay tax to 21%. If delivery of housing belongs to additional earnings, online platforms act as tax agents, holding 21% of a rent which is raised by owners of housing.
