Scientists: addition of red seaweed reduces methane emissions by 44%

Experts from the Swedish agricultural university (SLU) in Umeå conducted research as a result of which it was found out that addition of red seaweed of Asparagopsis taxiformis to cow manure in number of 0,5% of the lump of organic substances can reduce methane emissions from it by 44%. These results were published in the Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems magazine. Ruminants, such as cows, are a source about a third of all anthropogenous emissions of methane.
