Underground blossoming: opening of a rare plant on the island of Borneo

On the tropical island of Borneo, in the heart Southeast Asia, scientists found the surprising plant, capable to blossom and fructify underground. It is the new species of a palm tree called Pinanga subterranea which became the first known representative of family of the palm trees, capable to make flowers and fruits exclusively in underground conditions.
