Vaka — a traditional canoe of the people of Maori to which as believe, more than 150 years, Region of Taranaki in the west of New Zealand was saved from the river Patea to the region. The rare find is described as valuable communication with heritage local to the willow, Those Pakakokhi, Ngati Ruanui and Nga Raur. Locals assume that vaka was intentionally hidden by their ancestors of Maori to prevent its confiscation by the British colonial government in the 19th century.
