Among them there are mutants: geneticists for the first time investigated dogs from Chernobyl

Geneticists from University State of South Carolina (United States of America) and Gdansk university (Poland) conducted the first genomic research of Chernobyl dogs. It showed that these animals considerably differ from any other dogs living in the territory Eastern Europe, Asia and Near East. Results of work are published in the Science Advances magazine. After explosion on the Chernobyl NPP in 1986 and the followed evacuation of the population in an exclusion zone there was a large number of pets.
