The deputy State thoughts from Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Andrey Lugovoy suggested to toughen punishment for high treason and espionage to lifelong term. According to him, the corresponding project will be brought in State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation soon. Now under article about state change (Art. 275 of the criminal code of Russian Federation) punishment in the form of imprisonment for a period of 12 till 20 years is prescribed.
