Punishment for tortures in prisons will strengthen

Prison term for application of tortures can increase till 12 years. The relevant law (the No. 42307-8) State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation accepted on June 22. The document supplements article 286 Federal law of the Russian Federation of 13 June 1996 No. 63-FZ "On the Enforcement of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation" about excess of powers of office by new part according to which tortures from law enforcement officers will punish imprisonment for a period of four till 12 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or to be engaged in a certain activity for a period of up to 10 years.
