About 13 200 years ago the vagrant male of a mastodon died in bloody fight with the rival during a marriage season in the territory of modern northeast Indiana, almost in 100 miles from the native territory, according to the first research documenting annual migration of a certain animal from the died-out look. The adult individual weighing 8 tons known as a mastodon of Bushing, was killed when the rival pierced the right side of her skull with a canine tip – a mortal wound which was found by researchers when remains of an animal were taken from a peat farm near Fort Wayne in 1998...
