Latvia completely forbade training in Russian

The Latvian Cabinet of Ministers approved amendments to the law "About Education" according to which in the country it is forbidden to carry out school and preschool education in Russian. Now at schools and kindergartens Latvian will have to be used only. Since September 1, 2023 to the Latvian language will pass the first, fourth and seventh classes of schools, and also kindergartens. In 2025 transition has to be carried out completely. In the law it is specified that pupils from among ethnic minorities will be able to learn the native languages facultatively.
