Ancient Egyptian linen fabric was stronger than a canvas from Europe

With the purpose to reveal durability of plant materials, the international group of scientists analysed canvases of pictures of the Italian artists of Modern times and linen fabric of an era of Ancient Egypt. By results of recent research of scientists, materials from vegetable resources were not so strong as it is considered to be. Scientists studied canvases of the Italian artists of the XVII-XVIII centuries from gallery Ascoli Piceno and revealed their degradation because of changes of environment and the wrong methods of storage.
