Japan demanded to cancel a trip of Deputy Prime Ministers Russian Federation to Kuriles

Ministry of foreign affairs of Japan made Russian Federation representation because of a trip of vice-chairmen of Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Grigorenko and Marat Khusnullin on the island of Iturup of the Kuril archipelago. The official representative of department Tomoyuki Esida reported about it on October 13 to journalists. Esida emphasized that visit of Iturup by the Russian officials contradicts a position Tokyo on "northern territories" as to Japan call the southern Kuril Islands. He added that the Japanese party demanded cancellation of a trip of the Russian Deputy Prime Ministers.
