On August 27 Day of the Russian cinema is celebrated. This day in 1919 the Council of People's Commissars Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic adopted the decree about nationalization of film business to Russian Federation in which, in particular, it was spoken: "All photographic and cinema trade and the industry … is transferred in all territory of P.C.F.C.R. to maintaining the Jurisdiction of the Commissariat on Education". In 1980 according to the Decree of Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR there was "A day of the Soviet cinema". In 2001 for a holiday separate date – was chosen on August 27.
