The president Latvia signed the law on issue of passports to children of aliens

The president Latvia Egils Levits signed the bill of automatic granting since 2020 of nationality of the country to children of aliens. The document suggests not to give the status of aliens to children who were born in Latvia after January 1, 2020 – but only in case parents of the child do not want for it nationality of other country, transfers information agency "ITAR-TASS". The ex-president of the country Raymonds Veyonis suggested to adopt this law. In 2016 as aliens in the country 47 children, in 2017 – 51 children, and in 2018 – 33 children were registered.
