Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation detains documents

Research newspaper "Kommersant" showed that to Russian Federation there are big problems with access to affairs of political victims of political repression in Soviet Union. Only a third of regional governments of Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation submitted the archival criminal cases of victims of political repressions to state archives. Thus in the state archives which have received affairs, often there are no necessary conditions for access of citizens to them. Experts point to a closeness problem: it is not known, on what number of citizens the cases are submitted; also it is not clear, how many affairs are still stored in Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation...
