Amazon and other large business in Seattle obliged to pay a new tax for the sake of the homeless

City council Seattle unanimously accepted a new tax for the large companies which obliges to pay approximately for $275 for the employee for improvement of living conditions of the homeless. The decision is made despite an active protest local businesses, including headquarters of Amazon, writes blog about technologies "TechCrunch".

the New tax will concern about 500 companies with annual revenue more than $20 million, Seattle is told in the message the authorities. 70 interest drawn means will go for creation of affordable housing for the homeless in the city, almost all the rest – on various services for them.

Many mentioned companies acted against taxes, Amazon had the most rigid reaction – the largest online retailer of United States of America threatened to curtail construction of one of the skyscrapers in the city and to reorientate another.

In the comment concerning acceptance taxes representatives of Amazon noted that are disappointed with the decision of the authorities and "are compelled to reflect on expansion prospects" in the city, however will continue skyscraper construction.
