the Name Equinor is a combination of the word "equi", the beginning of such words as equal (equal), equality (equality) and equilibrium (balance), and also "nor" that reflects the Norwegian origin of companies who wants to use actively it in the positioning, reports information agency "Interfaks" .
"The world changes, as well as Statoil. There is the most essential adaptation of our modern power systems, and we are aimed to be in vanguard of it of developments. The name Equinor reflects occurring changes and supports safe, highly effective and low-carbon strategy which we presented last year" — the chairman explained boards of directors to Statoil Yon Eric Reynkhardsen.
"It is historical day for us. (Name) of Statoil served to us nearly 50 years. Looking in the forthcoming 50 years, taking into account the transformation happening in world power, and ours developments as the versatile energy companies change of the name became natural" — Eldar Setre added chapter of companies.
the Name will be offered toshareholder for decision-making at annual meeting on May 15. Government Kingdoms Norway as the main shareholder, supports the offer of board of directors about change of a name and will vote for this decision.
