Design of the first-ever museum devoted to the mountain, the known Japanese architect developed Shigera Ban
Fujiyama, the highest mountain of Japan, the nasledniya of Specialized establishment United Nations concerning education, sciences and cultures in 2013 was declared by object cultural. And a year later the architect Shigeru Bang and his studio were chosen from 238 demands for development of the project of the cultural center of Fujiyama located in prefecture Shizuoka.
It is a question of the monumental building of 4300 sq.m from which it will be possible to contemplate the mountain, to learn about stories of the reserve and about its cultural historical value. "All other projects to me suggested to top the building with a roof in the form of the cone, Fujiyama repeating outline. But I thought that it is impossible to compete with that the nature gave us, and thought up essentially other decision", – Shigeru Bang speaks. And it is valid, the form of the building reminds the turned cone, being in harmony with mountain outlines, but without repeating them. Opening of the center is planned for December 22, 2017.
