On October 7, 1952 the American inventors Dzhozef Norman Vudlend and Bernard Silver patented Shaped code. But such short and clear name came not at once. Development of Vudlend and Bernard Silver was called as Classifying Apparatus and Method, and the patent described it as classification of objects by drawing identification patterns.
