General director State corporation "Rosatom" Likhachev A. and the president of Agency on atomic energy Japan T.Kodam signed the memorandum of collaborations in reduction of radioactivity of waste. As the press service reports State corporation "Rosatom", signing took place within East economic forum which was taking place in Vladivostok.
In the concluded memorandum of the party expressed intention to cooperate in the field of advance of innovative power technologies at the address with radioactive waste that is one of the major problems in modern nuclear power.
the Technology transmutations of minor actinides, in particular, dolgozhivuyushchy isotopes of americium, curium and the neptunium containing in radioactive waste from processing of fulfilled nuclear fuel, allows to reduce their volume and radio toxicity considerably. The transmutation can be made by means of a burning out in reactors on fast neutrons or by means of systems on the basis of the accelerator.
Scientific centers to Russian Federation and Japan, having considerable successful experience of research works and experiments in the field of the address with radioactive waste, are interested in association of efforts on this direction which is important for safety of people and environment.
State corporation "Rosatom" is formed on December 18, 2007, its kernel is the state holding JSC <1> "Atomenergoprom" , uniting over 300 enterprises and the scientific organizations, among which all civil assets of nuclear branch. In addition, the state corporation operates nuclear icebreaking fleet.
