The Correction Way project became the winner of the International open grant competition "Orthodox Initiative 2015-2016" FUND "SORABOTNICHESTVO", works in penal institution from May, 2016 to January 2017. Main objectives of the project are acquaintance of minors condemned with orthodox dogma, their churching, increase of cultural, educational level, familiarizing with orthodox traditions, creation of conditions for spiritual and moral education condemned.
Results of the grant project "Correction Way" realized in the Birobidzhan educational colony of Administration office Federal Penitentiary Service on Jewish Autonomous region, brought in the Birobidzhan Diocese of Russian Orthodox Church. The meeting took place in a format of a round table. On action at the social and educational center of a diocese there were representatives of clergy, the government and Legislative Assembly of the Jewish autonomous area, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Jewish Autonomous region, heads and employees of management personnel and establishment of regional criminal and executive system.
during meeting heard reports on work on implementation of the project directed on spiritual and moral education of the condemned. As it was noted, the planned actions are executed. In regime establishment the educational and methodical base and an office for studies on "bases of orthodox culture" in which besides conversations with priests, church services, church ceremonies and sacraments were carried out is created. Within the project works on chapel arrangement in honor of Saint Peterburgskaya Xenia were resumed, the colony located in the territory, its small consecration took place. For minors condemned in temples of the regional center excursions were organized. Intermediate results of implementation of the project were estimated during carrying out testings with pupils and the staff of penal institution, round tables and working meetings.
"During implementation of the project in the Birobidzhan educational colony the number of malicious violations decreased, the general discipline increased, the quantity condemned, released conditional ahead of schedule grew, positive results of educational work which joint actions with clergy" directly or indirectly influenced became noticeable, - the chief of BVK of Administration office Federal Penitentiary Service on Jewish Autonomous region Eduard Bastun noted efficiency of carried-out work.
Besides results considered offers on continuation of implementation of the project in 2017. Among plans for the near future – creation from among condemned a mug of choral singing.
In completion of discussion the Bishop Birobidzhansky and Kuldursky Yefrem expressed to p gratitude of UFSIN, the Birobidzhan educational colony for assistance in implementation of the project and handed over to heads letters of thanks. In turn the chief of UFSIN Fomchenko Vitaly donated the Birobidzhan diocese of Russian Orthodox Church the icon executed from a marble crumb by condemned IK-10.
Participants of a round table stated to p intention to pay special attention to work with minors condemned, serving sentence in the Birobidzhan educational colony, to give help and support in questions of their education and resocialization.
