On April 21 in the Greek Olympia fire of the summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro will be lit.
On April 21 in Greece will light Olympic flame. The ceremony will take place in Olimpii*. To Brazil in which will take place from August 5 to August 21 summer Games, fire deliver on April 27.
National Olympic torch relay starts in Brazil on May 3. 12 000 torch carriers will take part in it. Also within relay motor rally which will capture 500 settlements of Brazil will take place. As a whole the symbol of the Olympic Games will overcome 20 thousand kilometers on the ground and about 16 thousand kilometers by air.
Organizers plan that in hundred days Olympic flame will be seen by 83 Brazilian cities.

Tradition of ignition of Olympic flame
Fire is one of the main symbols of the Olympic Games. By tradition, it light in the Greek Olympia some months prior to opening of games. Eleven women, generally the actresses representing priestesses, hold a ceremony during which one of them lights fire by means of the parabolic mirror focusing beams of the Sun. Then this fire deliver to the city holding the Olympic Games.
Five school students will take part in Olympic flame lighting ceremony from Yakutsk. By tradition, school students of the twin-city can take part in this action only. At Olympia ten twin-cities five of which are in the USA, three — in Europe, one — in Japan and only one in Russia are.
For delivery of Olympic flame use a torch which is born by runners, transferring him each other on relay, however other ways of transportation were at different times used also. Except the main torch, from Olympic flame light also the special lamps intended for storage of a flame in case the main torch (or even fire at the games) will go out for any of several reasons.
The summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro
