Moscow. March 25. INTERFAX - the Federal Antimonopoly Service approved the structure petition "National group media" and Discovery Communications about purchase of the Russian Turner channels.
FAS allowed JSC Diskaveri Holdings to get two thirds of shares in authorized capital of JSC Turner detskiye programmy and JSC Turner informatsionnye programmy i stil zhizni, it is spoken in the message of antimonopoly service.
JSC Turner informatsionnye programmy i stil zhizni is engaged in distribution in Russia of the CNN channel, JSC Turner detskiye programmy - Cartoon Network and Boomerang channels.
JSC Diskaveri Holdings for 80% belongs to NMG, 20% - at DNE Music Publishing Limited (these bases "SPARK-Interfax").
That the structure of NMG and Discovery will redeem the Russian assets of Turner and will acquire the right for a broadcasting of CNN, Cartoon Network and Boomerang channels in Russia, it was declared in December of last year.
Since 2016 came into force of the amendment to the law on mass media which limit direct or indirect participation of foreigners in the capital of the Russian media at the level of 20%.
For broadcasting continuation in Russia Discovery Communications (channels Discovery Channel, Animal Planet) created joint venture with NMG, the last redeemed 80% in JSC Diskaveri Holdings (the Alliance" works under a brand "Media)
After the transaction with NMG Discovery also received radio frequencies that allowed it to resume advertizing sales (amendments to the law "About Advertising" limited advertizing sales on not radio channels since 2015).
NMG created on the basis of media assets of Russia bank of Yury Kovalchuk, Alexey Mordashov and SOGAZ group, owns radio channels "REN TV", "Fifth Channel", a share in "Channel One" (25%), and also Russian News Service radio station, the Izvestiya newspaper.
