Geologists from Portugal established that the space of an extinct underwater volcano in 100 kilometers from Lisbon can contain such amount of carbon dioxide what this European country throws out for tens years of work of the industrial enterprises. Scientists consider that the chemical composition of breeds of a volcano will promote catching of CO2 and its transformation into steady minerals, for example in calcite. It will allow to reduce amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and to reduce risks of global climate change on a planet, considering that similar underwater volcanoes are in different places of Earth.
