In Volkhov opened a stele in memory of city merits in the years of war

Volkhov in the east of Leningrad Region received from hands of the governor Alexander Drozdenko the sign "Cities of Military Valour". This honorary title Leningrad Region was appropriated to the city for that important role which was played by Volkhov and the volkhovchena in fight for Saint Petersburg in days of the Great Patriotic War.
