Day of marines. It is established by the order of the commander-in-chief of the Navy of the Russian Federation of December 19, 1995. This day, in 1705, Peter I signed the decree "make regiments of sea soldiers (number on fleet looking) and to divide it on captains eternally to which it is necessary corporals and sergeants to take from old soldiers for the sake of the best training of a system and orders". The document laid the foundation to formation of the first regiment of marines.
