Presidents Russian Federation and Belarus Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko opened a memorial to the Soviet soldier in Rzhev. They assigned flowers to a monument pedestal. Also a moment of silence in memory of the soldiers who have died in battles near Rzhev in 1942-1943 took place. Veterans of the Great Patriotic War asked to immortalize memory of the Soviet soldiers to 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. With this request they addressed in committee of the Union State and to searchers of the Russian military and historical society.
